Three lives are forever changed by a visit to the Castle of the Hidden Grotto. “Readers will be… seduced by the lure of so many forbidden delights.” A Romance Review Dr. Elijah Wheeler, a professor of mythological studies, visits the castle along with his assistant, Thomas Lee, and his daughter Catherine. A self-described “disciple of the physical sciences,” Catherine rebuffs Tom’s marriage proposal in part because she scorns his field of study. But her conviction that all the mysteries of the world can be explained away by science is challenged when the sexually naive young woman is awakened by the invisible Darius to the pleasures of the flesh.
Elijah, intrigued by the lascivious satyr-and-nymph bathhouse statues, is transported back in time to witness Inigo and the voluptuous Mara posing for them. RT BookReviews Reviewers’ Choice Award Winner. This 86-page stand-alone novella is a revised and expanded edition of a story that was originally published by Bantam Dell in Book 1 of a paranormal series written under a different pen name. That book was an RT BookReviews Top Pick and was honored with their Reviewers’ Choice Award.
“The sensuality is what sets this story apart. Readers will be transfixed by the tableaux that [Crane] presents, and seduced by the lure of so many forbidden delights…. These stories will fascinate the reader and whet her appetite for the books to come.” –A Romance Review “The story line is unique… leading to a fascinatingly intense tale. Some of the sexual encounters are vividly graphic, but seems apropos when one considers the castle’s inhabitants and their sagas. Readers will want return engagements to this interesting castle.” –Genre Go Round The Desire Eternal Series: At the Castle of the Hidden Grotto, you’ll discover a world of sensuality and mystery, courtesy of four beautiful immortals who strive to fulfill their guests’ most secret longings—and their own unruly appetites. In May, 1997, Randy and Helen Baldwin eagerly welcomed their third child, Jeffrey, as did his older siblings, Matthew and Katie.
Jeffrey's arrival, unplanned but greatly anticipated, sparked a few adjustments in this family long removed from diaper duty, but Jeffrey was deemed a special gift. Eight weeks later, life took a completely unexpected downward spiral into the depths of despair when Jeffrey was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), a relatively rare, progressive, genetic neuromuscular disease with deadly ramifications.
The neurologist handed over the utterly devastating news that Jeffrey had a severe case of the most destructive form without a morsel of hope that anything could be done to thwart the effects of the killer disease. Faced with the nightmare that their baby was expected to die within two years and that there was no treatment or cure, Randy and Helen took their faith in God to a higher level and embarked on a quest to defy SMA and its stranglehold on their precious baby's life... and theirs. They sought the expertise of alternative practitioners, support from other SMA families, and relently relied on prayers for Jeffrey's health and for strength, courage, and wisdom for themselves. The Jeffrey Journey is the story of how one family - with friends and family, prayer, and God's grace - rose to the challenge of caring for a dying child while realizing untold bings from their life-changing assignment.
The book is accompanied by Dreams for Jeffrey, a CD of lullabies composed for Jeffrey by his grandmother, JoAnn Derden (the author's mother). "Somewhere In Between: The Hokey Pokey, Chocolate Cake and The Shared Death Experience" contains lighthearted true life stories from the author’s firsthand experience at the bedsides of family and friends who were dying. The primary story, “Aunt Jerry and Our Shared Death Experience” delves into the “in between” time when Lizzy’s aunt was dying. While interning as a hospice social worker, Lizzy received a dreaded phone call. Her aunt with end-stage Alzheimer’s Disease had suffered two seizures and a heart attack and was in the hospital. The next twelve days were a period of intense personal and spiritual growth as Lizzy experienced her dying aunt’s point of view in the ultimate form of empathy, known as a “Shared Death Experience.” This story is the most extensively documented Shared Death Experience to date, and details what it was like for Lizzy to receive psychic messages from spirits and her aunt, feel her aunt’s physical pain and see parts of her aunt’s life review. Throughout the story, Lizzy explores what it was like to have psychic abilities for the first time and the conflicts that arose when her family did not believe her. In other stories, Lizzy talks about doing the Hokey Pokey at the bedside and how she answers funny questions from patients such as, “Does Jesus like chocolate?” For such a serious topic as death and dying, Lizzy works hard to show the reader that there can be light and laughter even at the end of life.
